Jamberoo Action Park commences testing of rides in new Velocity Falls Precinct
Counting down to its season opening in just over a month, Jamberoo Action Park has released images and video of the testing of its nearly complete rides in its new Velocity Falls Precinct.
Guests where this week seen testing the rides in rather chilly conditions at the water theme park in NSW’s Illawarra region, trying out the eight lane Octo Racer and the double tube drop slide.
Impacted by poor weather and COVID delays, construction of the precinct has fallen behind schedule, but the Jamberoo Action Park website currently advises
Originally set to open in December 2021, poor weather and the impact of the pandemic on the building sector has seen construction of the precinct fall behind schedule. However, the Jamberoo Action Park website currently advises that it has “the goal of opening in September 2022.”
With waterslides from ProSlide Technology Inc, the new precinct, reported by Sydney website ellaslist as “costing upwards of $7 million”, is, according to Jamberoo Action Park, “a themed, world-class experience that taps into the sights and sounds of Australiana and builds on the existing theming at NSW’s largest family-owned and operated water theme park.
“Volumes of water racing at speed and the experience of zero gravity are the cornerstones of the Velocity Falls precinct.”
Queensland architect Alan Griffith is behind the design of Velocity Falls and has described the new attractions as “multibump speed slides” that “take off from a 'Skybox vertical launch' platform, (travel) through the gorge rock strata to the splashdown on each side of the Octokraken Racer."
Commenting on LinkedIn this week, Jamberoo Action Park General Manager, Matt George advised “(it has been) a long time coming, but what a great feeling it was to start ride testing of our brand new Velocity Falls Precinct.
“The anticipation is building into our 2022/23 season … we can't wait to introduce these brilliant attractions!”
