IRONMAN Group welcomes tomorrow's return of Sydney City2Surf

The IRONMAN Group Oceania welcomes tomorrow's return of Sydney's The Sun-Herald City2Surf  - the world’s largest fun run event with runners participating in the iconic 14km course held for the first time since 2019.

Geoff Meyer, The IRONMAN Group Oceania Managing Director, organisers of the City2Surf, said the team was excited to welcome the event back to Sydney and enthused “The Sun-Herald City2Surf is an iconic event in Sydney, and we’re thrilled that we’ll be welcoming runners back to the course between Sydney’s CBD and Bondi Beach on Sunday 14th August. This is an event that is incredibly important to the people of Sydney, and with 50 years of history behind it we can’t wait to see our community go back to doing what they love.

“The City2Surf holds a special place in the hearts of so many people in Sydney and provides a great opportunity for people to come together and train for a common goal, and also get back out and experience the best that Sydney has to offer.

“The event also plays an important role for numerous charitable organisations, with City2Surf runners raising nearly $49 million for charities in need since 2008.

“We had great support for the City2Surf Virtual Run in 2020 and 2021, but nothing can beat seeing the people of Sydney out on the famous course and the event’s return this year is one not to be missed.”

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the City2Surf was an institution that had been sorely missed over the past two years and added “COVID-19 put on hold so many of the things we love doing. While the City2Surf was able to push on with virtual events, there's nothing like the energy and excitement of doing it together in person. As we cautiously look beyond the pandemic it's wonderful to welcome the City2Surf back where it belongs.

“The City2Surf is one of our most exciting annual events. It’s a fabulous opportunity to attract spectators and participants to Sydney, to showcase our wonderful city and support a range of important charities in the process. All of these benefits are more important now than ever as we progress our post-pandemic recovery.”

The City2Surf continues to have strong support with involvement from partners rebel, Under Armour, Garmin, enIQ, City of Sydney and Calbee with their Harvest Snaps product.

The event has welcomed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) into an expanded multi-year partnership, TCS will continue to power the official event app, enhancing the fun run experience with live results and tracking features.
