IRLearning launches aquatic traineeships in NSW

In support of the recruitment in the NSW aquatic industry, the Institute of Research and Learning (IRLearning) is offering funded traineeships giving local businesses a unique opportunity  to upskill their teams at no cost to the trainee.

Tailored specifically for the industry, these qualifications are set to drive operational efficiency and enhance customer service while also ensuring compliance with evolving industry standards.

The initiative features two key programs: the Certificate III in Swimming Pool and Spa Service (CPP31218) and the Certificate III in Retail (SIR30216). Designed for both service and retail-focused businesses, the courses provide practical, hands-on training in areas such as pool maintenance, water chemistry, sales strategies, and customer engagement.

With training fully funded, the programs aim to equip workers with critical skills that promise to improve performance and boost business outcomes across the state.

The Business Case for Traineeships
The benefits extend beyond skill enhancement. Eligible businesses can capitalise on payroll tax exemptions and, in some cases, receive financial incentives for enrolling trainees. This is particularly advantageous for an industry that is rapidly evolving and facing growing expectations from consumers.

In addition to boosting technical and customer service skills, investing in employee development is a proven strategy for increasing staff loyalty and retention. Business leaders emphasize that showing commitment to workforce growth can pay long-term dividends in morale and productivity.

Simple Steps to Enrol
Getting started with the traineeships is straightforward. Businesses can enrol new, full-time talent within three months of their employment start date. IRLearning, the training provider, coordinates with the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) to streamline the process. From initial contact to signing the training contract, the setup is designed to be hassle-free.

Describing the traineeship as a “win-win” for businesses and employees alike, IRLearning General Manager, Wendy Donaldson stated “these traineeships represent an unprecedented opportunity for NSW pool and spa businesses to strengthen their operations.

“With government support and a focus on practical, industry-specific training, the potential benefits are enormous.”
