International stakeholders set to come together for World Bathing Day
The 2021 edition of World Bathing Day will see the international bathing, hot springs and spas community come together with a first ever global live streamed music event - Global Sound Bath.
Set to be held on Tuesday 22nd June 2021, the music and cultural live streamed showcase will see musical artists from around the world link together and follow the path of the sun around the planet - starting in New Zealand and moving west across to Australia, to Japan, then across to Europe and finishing in the United Sates.
The Global Sound Bath will feature up to 30 minutes of live musical performances from local artists from each host thermal hot springs venue, providing an opportunity for global audiences to experience the unique culture of each Hot Springs destination around the world at approximately 7pm local time.
An initiative of the Bathe the World Foundation and the Global Wellness Institute Hot Springs Initiative, World Bathing Day is an international celebration of water and the diverse rituals and cultural traditions associated with the act of bathing and cleansing.
First held in 2018 and based on a concept developed by RMIT University Professor Marc Cohen and Peninsula Hot Springs founders Charles Davidson, the event aims to draw together hot springs locations around the world to offer special events in celebration of the day while also donating money to charitable causes with a focus on clean water.
With 844 million people - one in nine of the world’s population - lacking access to safe water, hot springs leaders have used the event to petition the United Nations to formally recognise a World Bathing Day or International Day of Bathing.
