Industry experts appointed to HealthySwim Australia

HealthySwim Australia Chair, Ross Gage, has announced the appointment of Laurie Lawrence and Simon Reid as the first experts as voluntary members of to the HealthySwim Australia Board.

Making the announcement, Gage stated “the unique Laurie Lawrence brings an unmatched talent for advocacy - as evidenced by his huge success in promoting learning to swim and water safety.”

Welcoming his appointment, Lawrence advised “swimming is my life.

“Having been teaching swimming for over 50 years I know the value of warm clean water.

“Infant swimmers need to learn in high quality water, no, all swimmers need high quality water.”

With expertise in public health, specialising in global disease control, the appointment of Associate Professor Simon Reid from the University of Queensland to the board is seen as being especially timely.

Commenting on his involvement, Associate Professor Reid explained "HealthySwim Australia is a great initiative and I am honoured to serve on the Board in a voluntary basis.”

Further board members are expected to be confirmed next week.
