Ross Gage steps down as ASSA Chief Executive
Ross Gage, inaugural Chief Executive if the Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA), has stepped down from his role.
An acknowledged leader in swim teaching and education, Gage, a former Chief Executive of the Australian Swim Coaches Association (ASCTA), has been involved in swimming teaching, coaching and swim school management for more than 35 years.
In a statement, ASSA advised "Ross' career has spanned many years as the face of ASSA and before that, Swim Australia, his reach has touched many individuals and businesses around the world."
ASSA cites Gage's successes as including:
• As the driver of lobbying the Federal Government for removal of GST from Swimming Lessons back in 2004.
• Induction into the United States Swim Schools Association’s Hall of Fame
• Having both convened and lectured at many industry events nationally and internationally
• As the driver of forming the International Swim Schools Association and in tern, the bi-annual International Swim Schools Spectacular
• As ASCTA Chief Executive for nearly 20 years - assisting in the development and creation of ASCTA's National Swimming and Water Safety program (SAT)
• Recipient of ASCTA’s Outstanding Contribution to the Teaching of Swimming in Australia & Meritorious service to teaching Award’s
• Part of the Griffith University research group of Early Years Swimming
While Gage (pictured) has, as of the end of May, taken a step back from leading ASSA, he will still be involved with the Association in other capacities.
Gage will return later this month in a role dedicated to the development of ASSA’s Commercial Partners.
