Ian Thorpe set to inspire community activity by joining BlueFit advisory committee
Australian swimming legend and five-time Olympic gold medallist, Ian Thorpe has joined the BlueFit Group as an initial member of the Group’s Advisory Board Committee.
Managing 35 community owned aquatic and recreation centres and sporting facilities nationwide, BlueFIt 'Inspires Community Activity' through their health, fitness, aquatic, community and sports programs.
Having been a passionate advocate of supporting youth, this partnership demonstrates Thorpe’s commitment to giving back to the community and also to the sport he loves.
Announcing the partnership, BlueFIt Chief Executive, Todd McHardy said “BlueFIt is an industry leader in progressive programs and there is great synergy between our organisation and Ian Thorpe. We are delighted to have a strong association with Australia’s most decorated Olympian.
“We are excited to have a representative with his standing and character involved with our family.
“As part of his role, Ian will visit our Leisure Centre sites across the country, support our programs, enhance our member experience and inspire the next generation of Olympic swim talent.”
The swimming legend’s partnership with BlueFIt will commence on 26th August when he attends the inaugural BlueFIt Foundation’s Wellness XP to be held at the Johnny Warren Stadium at the Hurstville Aquatic Leisure Centre in southern Sydney.
Wellness XP is billed as the ultimate wellness experience providing teenagers (Years 11 & 12) with a safe, fun and informative platform to seek practical information on fitness, finance, nutrition, tertiary study support, social media, relationships, career choice as well as lean on mental health networks.
Thorpe will meet with the 1,000 strong cohort of teenagers in a question and answer session to discuss his own journey and how he navigated his teenage years in the limelight.
