HumanAbility names Emma King as inaugural Chief Executive

HumanAbility, the newly created national entity focused on advancing workforce development and education in the sport and recreation, health, human services (including aged care and disability support) and early childhood industries, has announced the appointment of Emma King as its inaugural Chief Executive.

Chief Executive of the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) since 2013, King played a vital role in advocating for social justice and equity. Prior to that, she held the position of Chief Executive at Early Learning Association Australia (formerly Kindergarten Parents Victoria), representing parents and providers of early learning services.

Currently serving on the Advisory Board of the Victorian Skills Authority and as a Board member of the Portable Long Service Authority, King is also the Chair of Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning Centre. Her previous roles include serving on the Board of Mental Health Victoria and as the Chair of VCOSS-RMIT Future Social Service Institute.

Looking forward to her new role, King (pictured) advised “I am honoured and excited to join HumanAbility as its inaugural CEO.

“My experiences in championing social justice, combined with my expertise in workforce and education issues, perfectly align with the mission of HumanAbility. I am dedicated to working alongside the team and stakeholders to drive meaningful impact.”

HumanAbility is one of 10 newly established Jobs and Skills Councils, dedicated to advancing workforce development, education, and skills development in health and human services, early childhood education, and sport and recreation.

She will commence in her new role in mid-September.
