Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre continues with renovations to maintain world class standards
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML) is continuing with its US$128 million five-year advancement project at the venue with mega scale renovations of various HKCEC facilities and infrastructure in several stages.
The stage that started on 29th June 2019 covers the convention hall, theatres, foyers and Hall3 FG in Phase I and is seeing the audio system, air handling units, water pipes and fire services installations upgraded and carpets, operable partitions and wall fabrics replaced.
In addition, toilets and ancillary rooms will be refurbished.
With subsequent stages to cover other facilities in the rest of the HKCEC, upon completion in early 2024, the venue will provide an even more comfortable, efficient and safer environment for all Centre users.
The new facilities will also contribute to energy and water conservation efforts.
The mega scale advancement project started soon after the complete revamp of the entire Wi-Fi system in 2018, now offering complimentary, faster, higher density and more stable service. Installation of the smart Building Management System that uses IoT technology is in good progress. Setting up of 5G infrastructure has also started. As soon as 5G spectrum is assigned by the Hong Kong Government, visitors to the HKCEC from worldwide can immediately enjoy the service.
Monica Lee-Müller, HML’s Managing Director noted "at HML, we take great pride in the architectural splendour, the dramatic location and high quality construction and fitting out of the showpiece venue we manage. In line with the spirit of ‘Breakthrough. Advance Together’, HML is committed to upkeep the HKCEC as a world class venue.
"We continue to look for opportunities to improve and share our success with our business partners, staff members and community at large.
“Given the scale, and the HKCEC’s busy event calendar, scheduling each stage of the Advancement Project is a challenging task. We spread out the work over five years in order to minimize impact to event operation. We are grateful for the understanding and co-operation from event organisers, who will enjoy enhanced efficiency and functionality of our facilities, and benefit from the Project."
HML is the professional private management company responsible for the daily operation and building maintenance of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
