Hisense Arena to stage showpiece netball tournament under three-year contract

The International Netball Federation (INF) has announced that its Fast5 World Series national team event will be held in the Melbourne from 2016 to 2018.

The three-year agreement with Netball Australia will see the tournament switch from Auckland, New Zealand, where it was held from 2012 to 2014. The event will see the world’s top six netballing nations compete in the sport’s modified format, which aims to provide a faster and more entertaining form of the game.

The Hisense Arena in Melbourne’s Olympic Park will be the new venue for the event, which is planned to take place during the weekend of 29th to 30th October next year.

Announcing the new venue, INF President Molly Rhone stated “Australia is a fantastic country to host a world netball event as we witnessed with the spectacular Netball World Cup in Sydney this year.

“The Fast5 Netball World Series has been a phenomenal success and I have every confidence that Netball Australia will build on this and take it to the next level and to an even wider global audience.”
