Grand Slam and Polytan deliver new synthetic grass courts for Northern Suburbs Tennis Association
Five new synthetic grass tennis courts have recently been completed for the Northern Suburbs Tennis Association in Sydney suburb of Naremburn.
This has improved the overall appearance of the Association's facility and is assisting in attracting new members to the tennis club.
A major issue with the original courts was that tree roots were interfering with the court surface, making match play almost impossible.
Sports surfacing contractor Polytan, removed the existing surface and tree roots and installed a deep tree root barrier to prevent future damage to the tennis court. The kiln dried sand infill was sourced from Williamstown and layered with the synthetic grass surface.
Grand Slam Sports Equipment supplied five new external winding tennis posts, tennis nets and sleeves to replace the old ones. These were manufactured in Brisbane using galvanised steel and powder-coated for extra protection.
Commenting on the project, Northern Suburbs Tennis Association Administrator Sue Delmege stated "we are extremely satisfied with the finished job of the resurfacing of the courts at our Wheatleigh Street, Naremburn centre.
"The projection of roots from neighbouring trees has been a big problem with the courts and we are very confident that the removal of the roots and insertion of root guards as done will prove to be a satisfactory long term solution. The players are extremely happy with the way the courts are playing, even though extremely new, and particularly happy that the root problem no longer interferes with the bounce. All courts appear to be drying much quicker and the appearance of the surface, new nets and new net posts have given the whole centre a fresh and appealing atmosphere which will surely attract new clients to the centre.
"We are also very appreciative of the clean and tidy manner in which the centre was left on completion of the job."
