In what Head Coach Glenn Baker described as a dream week of racing Leiston Pickett, a member of Southport Swim Club for the past four years, finished second in the 50 metre Breaststroke behind Leisel Jones and will make her team debut.
Nick Frost who joined Southport Swim Club in November last year, led the 200 metre Freestyle from start to finish in 1:47.50 claiming his first Australian title in an exciting race which was divided by just 1.3 seconds from first to seventh. Nick will compete in the 200 metre plus will also be a part of the 4 x 200 metre Freestyle relay.
Beijing Olympic silver medalist and current world record holder Brenton Rickard, who is also a recent arrival to the Belgravia managed Gold Coast Aquatic Centre added the 200 metre breaststroke to his 2010 collection, with a clean sweep in the 50 metre, 100 metre and 200 metre breaststroke events. Brenton recorded the fastest 200 metre (2:09.31) time post the recent swim suit controversy. At the Games later this year Brenton will contest the 50 metre, 100 metre, 200 metre breaststroke along with the 4 x 100 individual medley relay.
Belgravia Leisure Chief Executive Adrian Johnston has congratulated Glenn and his swimmers and wished them all the best at these upcoming international meets.
