Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre marks 20th anniversary

Blue Mountains Council is inviting the community to celebrate Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre’s 20th birthday on Saturday 24th August.

The current Centre was opened in 2004, but a public pool has stood on the site for nearly 60 years.

The anniversary celebration will offer free entry to the whole centre, group fitness class trials, waterslide and inflatables, giveaways and promotional discounts, and a BBQ (and cake).

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said this is a wonderful milestone for an important community facility and added “Springwood is one of our five leisure centres and is open all year round, and the staff are second to none. This birthday celebration is as much to celebrate 20 years as it is to celebrate the team that make it a first-rate facility.

“The original pool was the vision of a dedicated group of residents who worked together with Council to bring it to life and provide their community a fantastic facility.

“Council replaced the original outdoor pool with the indoor facility, which updated and improved the pools, added disabled access, and provided a gym, spa and sauna facility as well.”
