Gold Coast club tests reACT to the limit
Prior to the full commercial release of the reACT (Rapid Eccentric Anaerobic Core Trainer) product at the upcoming Australian Fitness and Health Expo, Snap Fitness Southport has been putting the innovative fitness trainer through its paces.
reACT is an extremely functional training station for any facility that, as its name suggests, focuses on interval based eccentric load training that engages core and stability development with rapid results.
Of course, the all-important test for any new equipment is whether members and trainers like training on the new product and, ?" and according to Snap Fitness Southport Manager Vanessa Griese "all our members love the benefits and immediate response and feelings clients get in their legs."
Griese adds "reACT is not cardio so people aren't spending long intervals, it is short, sharp intense workout that challenges all of our members regardless of fitness levels and because of the short duration sessions is a perfect complement to their other training - cardio, strength or with Personal Trainers.
"As no physical load impacts the joints like plyometrics can - bounding and landing/jumping exercises if often trouble for those with joint issues - the reACT has given strength and new vigour to a number of clients routines whom were previously restricted."
Australasian distributor EYE Fitness continues to 'Excite the Environment' for its clients by providing a range of innovative and interactive solutions to the commercial fitness marketplace.
EYE Fitness Director David Norman explains the reACT is an engaging tool for users because users instantly feel a physical response of work (or burn) giving the user the positive reconfirmation that what they are doing is working thus bringing a result.
After trials and years of experiences overseas in professional NFL and senior living facilities in the USA, the reACT is now set for commercial health and fitness facilities in Australia and New Zealand with a Victorian YMCA and Virgin Active among the interested facilties awaiting their units.
Norman explains "the science behind the product is extensive, as eccentric training has a long history but previously our training ability for eccentric loading has been difficult, compromised by safety.
"For example, most common eccentric experiences are leg pressing two legs concentric - pushing phase - and single leg eccentric - lowering phase - as the body has greater strength in absorbing this force and more load in this phase.
"However, not all exercises allow trainers to complete this. Eccentric training in a basic description is like deceleration that any person performs for sport, fitness or daily life yet we don't train this effectively thus arguably results in the injury rate we see and the positive training results users get from the reACT very quickly.
"Examples of a rugby league player sidestepping - a 'dummy' - then sprinting forward, or a surfer absorbing the changing waves force beneath them are all eccentric movements critical to performance in sport just like a person walking down stairs as a 'life' example."
As Vanessa Griese points out that "the reACT allows for different stances from standard squats to spilt squats and full lunges, sideways squats and single leg applications for any variety of work/rest ratios and user speeds from 30rpm to 70rpm allowing the sessions to be specifically modified for all users, rehab, performance or general fitness."
