Fitness developments in Focus
The 2009 Australian Fitness Expo is set to showcase some of the latest technologies and scientific breakthroughs in the fitness industry.
To be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th April 2009, the event is expected to attract more than 300 exhibitors to Australiaâs biggest health and fitness expo.
Ashley Robertson, Australian Fitness Expo Manager explains, âthe Australian Fitness expo provides an opportunity for both trade and public participants in the fitness industry to interact first hand with the latest in cutting edge fitness technology."
Australian Fitness Expo exhibitor, PT Academy, will exhibit two breakthrough training solutions at this yearâs exhibition â demonstrating the advancement of science and technology in the Australian fitness industry.
BioAge, which will feature on the upcoming series of Channel Tenâs The Biggest Loser, is a radical software package that calculates biological age as opposed to chronological age. Contestants on the program will have their biological age calculated at the commencement and end of the series, using the BioAge system.
Paul Taylor, Director of the PT Academy explains that âBioAge is a scientifically developed and medically approved biological age testing system that encourages permanent behaviour change through its proven ability to motivate.
âOn 3rd March, I will calculate the biological ages of contestants on the Biggest Loser using the BioAge system in a bid to demonstrate just how much obesity speeds up the ageing process.?
Available to health clubs, personal trainers and health professionals, the unique system enables the calculation of biological age as opposed to chronological age. The comprehensive program increases motivation and inspires long-lasting health changes through a series of physical and behavioural assessments that demonstrate how lifestyle choices impact the body.
PT Academy will also exhibit Mybrainsolutions â a personalised web space that takes a validated functional brain assessment and then matches the user to recommended web-based training programs and brain games designed to improve various aspects of brain function.
Mybrainsolutions is powered by Brain Resource and the Brain Resource International Database â the largest of its type in the world. Brain Resource exclusively partners with Optimum Health, Americaâs largest health insurance provider, to use Mybrainsolutions as a clinical decision support system in screening for depression and allocating appropriate personalised solutions.
PT Academy is keen to expand Mybrainsolutions in to the fitness industry as the program is currently, available only to corporate and group organisations.
Taylor adds that "traditionally, anything related to the brain has been considered the exclusive domain of neuroscientists and psychiatrists. Mybrainsolutios has reclaimed the brain and made it accessible to the layperson by offering personalised assessments through forward-thinking health professionals and institutions.
âThe fitness industry can finally begin to move into the wellness space with a wealth of scientific credibility and we look forward to assisting in this progression and speaking to interested parties at the Australian Fitness Expo.
The Australian Fitness Expo caters for an extensive range of interests including fitness, training, natural healthcare, spa, yoga and much more. The exhibition attracts more than 17,000 trade and consumer visitors and connects attendees with manufacturers, suppliers and retailers in health and fitness industry.
The exhibition is trade-only on Friday and open to the general public Saturday and Sunday.
