First stage of Sunshine Coast’s ACTVE attraction submitted for development approval

The first phase of plans for a major new waterpark and active recreation destination on the Sunshine Coast have been submitted for development approval to the Sunshine Coast Council.

SANAD Capital’s plans for the multi-million dollar ACTVE adventure and active lifestyle development reveal some thrilling details of the highly anticipated new lifestyle destination, which will also include Australia’s first ever human powered monorail bike and a multi directional zipline.

Other elements released include a great lawn for major events and concerts, and an adventure park with activities such as kayaking, bungy jumping, net climbing, flyboarding, Segways and electric skateboard hire, zorbing, stand-up paddle boarding and football.

Commenting on the released plans SANAD Capital  Chief Executive Bradley P. Sutherland said the new development will highlight the region’s natural beauty, and become a one stop destination for all that’s hot, current and growing in all action sports, entertainment and events across the globe.

Sutherland stated “the Sunshine Coast is undoubtedly one of Australia's most beautiful regions with amazing beaches, stunning sunlight and picturesque hinterland. ACTVE will showcase its enviable natural assets and location, and transform the region into one of the country’s leading active lifestyle hub for families and adventure seekers far and wide.

“It will drive tourism and growth because people will visit from afar and realise how beautiful the region is and want to stay and return.”

Once approved, phase one of the $400 million development will commence construction in the first quarter of 2017 and is expected to be completed in November 2018.

Highly anticipated features of Phase One of ACTVE include:

• Australia’s first ever human powered monorail bike racetrack. Hanging in cycling pods from an overhead rail, adventurers will be able to race solo or challenge friends, family or the world record.
• Australia’s first ever zipline providing an experience beyond the traditional zipline by allowing for both horizontal and vertical changes of the rail path.
• Major new adventure park with activities such as kayaking, bungee jumping, net climbing, flyboarding, Segways and electric skateboard hire, zorbing, stand-up paddle boarding and football.
• The destination will also boast a great lawn offering major outdoor concerts, festivals and events.
