Dubai-backed developer hires consultant for Sunshine Coast adventure park project
Dubai-backed Sanad Capital has appointed a lead consultant to work on its venture on Australia's Sunshine Coast - an $400 million (US$297.3 million) active lifestyle destination.
Australian-based Sanad Capital Pty Ltd, a recently launched investment and development subsidiary of Dubai conglomerate Najibi Group, has hired Los Angeles-based Thinkwell Group for the yet to be named project.
The Sunshine Coast project will comprise a world's first 'Wave Reservoir', a world-class waterpark and extreme water sports facilities, a Olympic standard training centre, a 4 star hotel, a conference and exhibition centre, restaurants and retail outlets.
Commenting on the project, Thinkwell Chief Executive Joe Zenas stated “having visited the site and after a series of intensive meetings with Sanad Capital's senior management, we are very proud to announce that we are a part of this once in a lifetime project and are very happy to add it to our list of world class destination projects.”
Thinkwell is an entertainment, experience design and production company, responsible for the creation of some of the world's most renowned destinations including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, MGM Studio City in South Korea, Dubai's Expo 2020 winning bid and the London 2012 Olympics.
The company will master plan and design what is set to be the region's first of its kind project.
Commenting on the development, Sanad Capital Chief Executive Bradley Sutherland added “we have always said that this development would be special, but now, with Thinkwell as our partner, we cannot wait to show Australia, and indeed the world, what is about to come to the Sunshine State.
“Thinkwell is a global leader, a visionary and a trend setter and that's exactly what this project deserves,"
Further details on the development will be released later this year and construction is set to begin in 2017.
