BIGSOUND and CAST collaborate for Tech Showcase Session at 2025 Brisbane music conference
BIGSOUND and CAST, The Centre for Arts, Science and Technology are collaborating for the CAST x Tech Showcase at this year’s music conference to be held on 3rd September at Brisbane’s The Precinct Stair Stadium.
This event will bring together industry leaders, artists, and creative technologists for an exciting event of connection and discovery, exploring how technology is transforming music and entertainment and how we can all work together to embrace an innovation-driven future.
BIGSOUND is an annual music industry gathering held in Brisbane, Australia, during the first week of September. It's known as the southern hemisphere's biggest music industry event, combining a conference and a music showcase festival. The conference features industry professionals and artists sharing insights, while the showcases present emerging and established musicians across various venues in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
BIGSOUND and CAST are currently calling for startups building across creator tools, events, fan engagement, and the evolving infrastructure that supports artists. Collectively, they’re on the look out for innovative startups from across the world that are reshaping how music is made, shared, and experienced.
A selection committee including industry leaders Emily Copeland (ex ABC, ARN, CADA), Jaddan Comerford (UNIFIED Music Group, Side Stage Ventures) James Song VC, Visual Artist and Content Creator (New Renaissance Ventures), and Andrea Rosen (Best Nights VC) will select which four startups will showcase at the event. An additional six projects (local or international), will be featured in a downloadable digital zine, giving them the chance to be introduced to the local market and broader industry network.
Kris Stewart, Chief Executive of QMusic enthused “we’re thrilled to be engaging CAST for BIGSOUND’s first ever Tech Showcase at this year’s event. Through CASTs knowledge and connections, we are excited to see what insights into the future of the industry our Tech Showcase is set to uncover.”
Attendees will hear curated pitches from an exciting handful of panel-selected startups each building products and solutions that improve the future of music through fan engagement, creator monetisation, live performance, and beyond. Founders of startups wishing to be considered for the showcase should ensure they have created a CAST profile before the cut off of 8th August.
Gav Parry, General Manager of CAST added “we are stoked to be working with BIGSOUND to highlight the importance of technology and innovation within the music industry. Our hope in working with BIGSOUND is to unlock accessibility and visibility of early stage companies who are building innovative products and services that are going to improve the way the industry operates. The future we see is one where innovation is driven from within the industry, created by and with those at the heart of it. We want to see creativity thrive beside technology.”
The CAST x BIGSOUND Tech Showcase will wrap up with networking drinks, offering the chance to connect with founders and fellow industry changemakers from 4:30pm outside of Duke’s at TC Beirne Centre.
To apply to showcase, create a CAST profile here by 8th August. This event is open to BIGSOUND conference pass holders and selected startups.
ABOUT CAST
Established in 2024, CAST is a membership organisation that exists to create low-friction pathways for the discovery, trial, and adoption of new technologies across the entertainment ecosystem. From improving fan engagement to streamlining operations, CAST bridges Builders (startups) and Buyers (industry leaders) to reshape how entertainment is delivered and experienced.
At the heart of this work is a belief that the biggest breakthroughs will come from breaking down the silos between art and sport - because in the end, we all serve the same customer: the fan.
CAST has recently welcomed initial “buyer” members Ovation/Ticketek, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Momentus Technologies, one of the world’s leading venue tech providers, powering over 1.4 million events annually - both recognise the power of CAST to power their innovation by bridging the gap between emerging tech and the entertainment industry.
CAST has so far showcased startups Soot, Flashback, ArtsPat, Eat from Your Seat, The Imagination Collaborative, Sunflower AI, Tontoungue, BindiMaps, GroundZero, Bardar, Bondi Lines, Your Kind, and What’s Lively through collaborations with Venue Industry Congress (hosted by VMA), SOUTHSTART_, AIPC Summit, The Music x CAST - Tech Showcase and now, BIGSOUND.
