Construction starts on Singapore’s first bungy tower
Internationally acclaimed bungy jump leader AJ Hackett International has commenced construction for Singapore’s first bungy tower on Sentosa Island.
Located at Sentosa’s Siloso Beach the ‘State of Fun’ attraction will be offering a myriad of unprecedented experiences from a newly built 50-metre tower, including the world’s first Duo Giant Swings and commercial Vertical Skywalk, Singapore’s first bungy as well as a skybridge.
Construction of the custom-built tower is estimated to be completed by the end of 2016, with opening details to be announced later.
When complete, thrill-seekers will be able to attempt several different jump styles at AJ Hackett Sentosa’s 47-metre Double Bungy jump decks. The new attraction will also take giant swings to new heights with the world’s first double swings of its kind, where two groups of participants can race each other towards the ground at speeds of over 100km/h.
Sentosa will also be the first site in the world to offer a full-time commercial Vertical Skywalk, which is more commonly used by military and uniformed forces for training, giving guests the opportunity to experience the freedom and excitement of walking vertically 44 metres down the centre shaft of the tower.
For the less adventurous, the 40-metre long vertical Skybridge positioned 50 metres above the ground will allow participants of all ages to take a walk along an open-air bridge, taking in sights of Siloso Beach and jumpers leaping off the tower.
Company founder and Chief Executive AJ Hackett explains “we are absolutely excited about bringing our world renowned adventure tourism systems to Singapore, offering a line-up of unprecedented attractions tailored for the island destination of Sentosa.
“A lot of time and effort has been put into the design and flow of this site, and in working with all stakeholders, we’ve tried to create a destination where people of all ages and adventure levels can challenge themselves and be entertained.”
Susan Ang, Divisional Director for Island Investment & Branding at Sentosa Development Corporation, added “AJ Hackett Sentosa will augment the wide range of thrilling attractions we have on The State of Fun, further strengthening Siloso Beach’s position as the place to be for the young and trendy.
“We are confident that such a unique offering will give both locals and tourists even more reasons to visit Sentosa.”
