Upgrades planned for Tasmania’s Remarkable Cave
Upgrades are planned for one of Tasmania’s most visited and photographed locations, the Remarkable Cave, to provide an improved visitor experience when parks and reserves reopen to the public.
The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service has engaged experienced Tasmanian building contractor AJR Construct to upgrade the existing staircase to the Remarkable Cave Viewing Platform as part of the Three Capes Track Project.
Tasmania Minister for Environment and Parks, Roger Jaensch advised “the work will be undertaken, at least in part, during the closure of parks and reserves to the public and will help support the economy and jobs in regional Tasmania.
“When we begin to welcome tourists back to Tasmania, it is projects like this that will ensure jobs in the tourism and services industries are sustained and can rebound quickly.
The upgrade follows the completion of new and improved day walking tracks taking visitors from the Remarkable Cave to Crescent Bay and Mount Brown. This includes short walks to a new coastal viewing area at Maignon Blowhole and longer walks to Crescent Bay, Crescent Bay Lookout and Mount Brown.
Significant improvements to other infrastructure completed late last year include a cave viewing area, new coastal viewing area with improved accessibility, increased parking facilities for cars, larger vehicles and buses and a renovated toilet.
