Festive/holiday season greetings as we close a remarkable year
As we approach Christmas, the team at Australasian Leisure Management would like to wish all readers the very best for the holiday season.
However, we are mindful that for some sectors of the leisure industry, particularly those in visitor attractions, this is far from being a time of rest, as summer represents the busiest time of the year.
Shortly thereafter, January is one of the busiest periods of the year for the fitness sector, as people put their New Year’s resolutions to be more active into place.
As the year comes to a close, we can reflect that it has been a remarkable one for Australasian Leisure Management.
Readership
While traditional print media is widely seen as being in decline, this year the readership of the printed Australasian Leisure Management magazine has increased to a circulation of almost 11,000, largely driven by an agreement with the Australian Swim Schools Association that sees its members receive the magazine as a member benefit.
Online, with this website acknowledged as the leading source of information for the industry, Google Analytics shows that it attracts 35,000 page views each month.
Marketing and Sponsorship
This year has also seen Australasian Leisure Management expand its external marketing, with the presentation of our inaugural Leisure Industry Communication and Marketing Awards, recognised the best in leisure communications and marketing.
We have also completed our first sponsorship, backing the UTS Northside Futsal team (pictured above) completing in the 2016/17 Football NSW Select NSW Premier League competition.
In addition to backing a club with excellent community links that involves male and female athletes from ages eight through to adults, there is a pleasing symmetry in that many staff members of the University of Technology Sydney’s former School of Leisure Studies offered enormous support as this publication was first being developed 20 years ago – prior to the launch of Australasian Leisure Management back in February 1997.
Wanting Journalists/Writers
For 2017, we are looking for one or more journalists/writers to deliver content for Australasian Leisure Management on business and management topics in the leisure industry in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia.

The next Australasian Leisure Management enews will be sent out on Wednesday 4th January. However, this website and our social media channels will continue to post the latest industry news throughout the Christmas period.
Again, wishing all our readers a happy, healthy and successful holiday season and extending our hope that you all enjoy a prosperous 2017.
