Booming holiday rental industry comes together for inaugural summit

The Stayz Group is today hosting Australia's first-ever conference dedicated to the thriving industry of holiday rentals. The Stayz Holiday Rentals Summit is an opportunity to bring the industry together holiday property owners, agent managers and industry commentators to share experience, knowledge and expectations for the future of the holiday rental sector.

A range of industry leaders will present their insights on the holiday rental category and broader tourism market to 250 owners and agents from all over Australia and those considering investing in holiday rentals.

Speakers include: Nic Cola, Chief Executive, Fairfax Media Marketplaces; Nell Anderson, General Manager, Strategy, Tourism Australia; and Kirsty Shaw, General Manager, Travel Fairfax Media Marketplaces.

The event, being held at Doltone House in Darling Island Wharf, Sydney is covering travel trends, pricing, industry regulation, product developments, social media use and the financial implications of operating holiday rentals.

Shaw explains "although many don't realise, the holiday rental industry is one of the fastest growing accommodation categories in Australia, and weï¾re very excited to be leading the industry with this inaugural event

"As Australia's leading holiday rental group, we feel it's important to support the industry and our partners with regular updates on the condition of the market, current trends and best practice advice."

Tourism Australia has developed a range of industry insights and objectives.

Anderson believes the sector needs to be further developed, adding "across the industry there is wide acceptance of the need for a better quality Australian tourism product, and nowhere is this more important than accommodation. Tourism Australia has already identified the need for more beds in many places and creating the most appealing product to meet the industry's growth aspirations, as part of the 2020 Tourism Industry Potential."

The Stayz Holiday Rentals Summit is the first major event delivered by The Stayz Group, which was formed following Fairfax Media's acquisition of TakeABreak and rentahome in May 2011.
