Event Safety Institute to deliver renowned crowd safety course in Sydney and Perth
Event Safety Institute has announced that experienced safety professional and trainer Roderick van Gelder will deliver Professor Keith Still’s world renowned three-day course 'Introduction to Crowd Science' in Australia.
This course has been delivered by Professor Still for more than a decade and has Level 5 accreditation from Highfield and the IIRSM.
The course is recommended for all those involved in the design, planning or management of crowded places such as public events, sports gatherings and festivals. The course is also highly beneficial for approval bodies such as local government, police commanders or first responders.
The course will take the delegates from understanding crowd safety and risk analysis for crowded places to working through the principles of major accident and incident prevention.
The aim of the course is to develop greater understanding of crowded places and how individuals react and behave under different circumstances.
During the course, van Gelder will work through site planning, events reviews, venues lay-out and case studies. He will demonstrate the principles and applications of crowd safety and risk analysis such as how and when a crowd reaches critical mass, how the effects of design and information influence crowd behaviour, how crowd management systems can be tailored to suit the application. These are the vital concepts to understanding risk analysis and crowd safety for crowded places and mass gatherings.
