World’s first Level 5 Crowd Science Diploma introduced by eResponse Crowd Safety

A pioneering Australian crowd safety training specialist has announced the launch of the world’s first Level 5 Diploma in Crowd Science and Risk Analysis.

Sydney-based eResponse Crowd Safety has unveiled what is now the industry’s highest level qualification - based on a three-day course designed for people who plan and manage the movement of people at large-scale spectator events.

The qualification has already seen the first individuals, two police officers, obtain the diploma through eResponse’s partnership with NSW Police.

Inspectors Mick Rochester and Andy Bullock became the first police officers to hold the qualification, meaning the force is now in a unique position to offer the highest standards of strategic advice and planning for events.

Jim Fidler, Head of eResponse Crowd Safety Australia explained “it’s a huge step forward to be offering such an in-depth, high level qualification within the crowd safety and security sector.

“The completion of the diploma by Public Order Inspectors Mick Rochester and Andy Bullock is a big milestone and it has placed New South Wales Police at the forefront of crowd management planning in Australia by being the first force in the world to have qualified crowd managers.

“It’s a benchmark which has been noted throughout the industry and it means the force has rubber-stamped its commitment to the highest standards of safety for all large scale events in the state.

“The new diploma is already creating conversation around the world and has become sought-after within the industry. To have taken it to such a wide scale so quickly is magnificent and across Australia, and indeed in the UK, we are set to deliver a series of back-to-back courses later this year to help more people gain the highest possible qualification our industry has to offer.”

The new qualification sits alongside the training provider’s other existing Level 2 to Level 4 crowd safety qualifications which are delivered in countries around the world. They include topics such as Front of Stage Pit Operations, Event Security Operations (ESO) and also Stewarding for Event Staff.

The launch of the diploma is the latest in a long line of announcements from eResponse Crowd Safety since it was formed in 2014 as a division of UK-based training and recruitment provider, eResponse Group.

Headed by UK-based Director of Crowd Safety Andy Hollinson, eResponse delivers training and a consultancy service for a variety of large-scale gatherings which include sporting events, music festivals, religious pilgrimages and large-scale celebratory events. They have delivered courses to almost 1,500 people.
