Event Industry stars set to shine

The past twelve months has seen the delivery of some truly magnificent events in Australia. National music festivals such as Big Day Out continue to grow, attracting approximately 200,000 attendees in 2013.

Sporting events also developed, the Australian Open celebrated record-breaking crowds with 686,000 attending in 2012, and 2013 not far behind with 684,000. Australian arts events have also shared increased success with festivals such as Vivid drawing record crowds of approximately 800,000 people, proving that the events industry is alive, well, and more valuable than ever before.

Whether it's a massive national touring event, or an intimate business meeting one can guarantee that there is a team of event managers, suppliers and venue staff buzzing around behind the scenes to ensure the seamlessly successful delivery.

Director of Out There Productions (Event Manager of the Year, 2011 Australian Awards) and co-owner of the Summernats Car Festival (now attracting over 100,000 patrons annually), Andy Lopez has experienced the long hours required to deliver events and agrees with the need for industry members to be properly recognised.

Lopez explains "Aussie event professionals are an extremely hard working group of people. They continue to create extraordinary events that make an invaluable contribution to the entertainment, cultural, tourism and business sectors in Australia.

"It's important for our industry that we recognise and celebrate excellence, and the Australia Event Awards are doing this in a very genuine and authentic way. I'm really proud to be involved."

Entries for the Event Awards are now open and need to be submitted by 16th August.
