MCEC secures two major accolades at MEA Awards

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) secured the top venue award at the Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) National Awards last night.

MCEC took home the award for Meeting Venue 500 Delegates or More while MCEC Operations Manager Darren Southurst was named the Operations Person of the Year for excellence in event operations and delivery.

MCEC Chief Executive Peter King said credit was due to the entire venue team who work hard every day to deliver outstanding meetings and events.

King explained “I am always incredibly proud to see our team rewarded for their hard work and dedication. It takes a combined team effort to consistently deliver the quality of events that we do, every day.”

King also congratulated Southurst on his outstanding operational ability, adding “Darren is a model example of the calibre of people we have here at MCEC, who all continue to lead our industry and go the extra mile to ensure our customers’ events are a resounding success.

“Darren’s solution-focused and creative outlook brings our customers’ ideas to life, and it’s terrific to see him recognised amongst his industry peers.”
