EVANZ ready to host Mid Year Conference

Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) is ready to stage its 2023 Mid Year conference at Toitoi - Hawke's Bay Arts and Events Centre this week.

Being held on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th May, the conference will feature two days of networking and learning, with a program that commences with seven operators, drawn from performing arts venues and stadia, explain how they've dealt with challenges of the past year.

Other sessions will include a ‘state of the nation’ review, a workshop with Creative New Zealand and discussions covering licensing and staffing.

Spark Arena - 'Hamilton' Scholarship
EVANZ has also advised of the opportunity for a young professional to spend a couple of days with the Spark Arena crew as they bring Hamilton to the stage for the first time in New Zealand.

The scholarship will include:

  • A tour of the Arena and the backstage area (where possible) to provide an overview of how the venue operates and what goes into staging a show.

  • Meetings with key members of staff, such as the technical manager, event manager, marketing manager and catering manager to gain insights into their roles and responsibilities.

  • Attending a rehearsal or soundcheck to see how the performers and technical crew prepare for the show (where possible).

  • Attending security briefings

  • The opportunity to explore the venue and ask questions along the way.

Preferred dates are 8th/9th June 2023

EVANZ will contribute up to $500 towards travel and accommodation costs (which the recipient will need to arrange).

Sky Stadium change
After 10 years as Chief Executive at Wellington's Sky Stadium, Shane Harmon has advised that he will step down from the position later this year.
