EVANZ announce new insurance partnership to benefit members

The Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) have partnered with insurance industry leader Apex Insurance and risk management consultancy Reliance Risk to offer a new scheme exclusively to its members.

With increasing insurance and compliance costs creating significant pressures for New Zealand's venue owners and operators - particularly those who do not have access to the buying power of large insurance pools - the scheme is a bid to reduce this pressure, brings venues together under a single umbrella, providing long term cost savings and competitive insurance buying power.

According to EVANZ Chair Mark Gosling, insurance is one of the largest operating costs to a venue after wages. While many larger council venues have access to highly-competitive premium pricing through their council insurance pool, smaller privately or trust owned venues, miss out on this pricing structure.

In addition to providing greater policy buying power, EVANZ members will also receive a risk review from Reliance Risk, helping them strengthen their risk and safety processes.

Reliance Risk Managing Director, Wayne Middleton advises “the global pandemic has emphasised the importance of having a good understanding of both insurable and non-insurable risk exposures. This collective scheme will help venues mitigate risk and reduce insurance costs.

“We look forward to working with APEX and EVANZ to help achieve results for its members.”

Scheme manager and Managing Director of Apex Insurance James McGhie said the new partnership will level the playing field for venue owners and deliver cost savings as well as comprehensive cover and risk management solutions.

Apex Insurance is one of the largest privately owned insurance brokers in New Zealand while Reliance Risk is a risk management consultancy established to provide quality risk management and safety support.

Since late 2020, Reliance Risk has operated a New Zealand office to support its clients.
