Dunedin City Council to launch new swim school

Having not renewed its contract with its current swim school provider, Dunedin City Council is to launch its own swim school at the Moana Pool in July.

Explaining the move, Moana Pool Manager Nicola Jukes stated "the contract with our current swim school franchise, Swimsation, is coming to an end and we decided to take the opportunity to provide an in-house swim school and look at how we can improve swim school services for our customers in the future."

Advising that Moana Pool staff and swim school customers have been advised and the change will not result in any job losses, Jukes added “we’ll continue to employ the same staff and we’ll continue to offer lessons to schools.

"There will be some changes for customers, as how the current swim school operates is unique to the Swimsation franchise, but we’ll be working to make it a smooth transition. A lot of thought and work has gone into this and ultimately our goal is to offer a quality swim school for the people of Dunedin."

Through the new in-house swim school, lessons will continue to be provided at Moana Pool and DCC community pools.

The new swim school starts on 23rd July with more information about it to be made available closer to the time.
