NZRA Chief Executive resigns

The New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) has accepted the resignation of its Chief Executive Steve Gibling.

Explaining that Gibling's resignation will be effective from 23rd September, NZRA President John Latimer released a statement that read "Steve's resignation is due to personal reasons relating to family down in Christchurch and the ongoing earthquakes that have shaken so many.

"The Board accepted his resignation with understanding, regret and respect for his leadership of NZRA over the past two years.

"Steve brought vision and energy to this organisation. He led NZRA back from the economic challenges of the previous two years, was passionately committed to NZRA's mission and focused on working collaboratively with partner organisations and the six regional committees."

Staff members of NZRA will share in the duties of the interim Chief Executive while the NZRA Board has established an Executive Transition Committee that will lead a process for the recruitment and selection of the new Chief Executive.

Advertising for the position will begin later this week primarily on NZRA's website with applications set to close on 28th August.
