Dreamworld opens new Rivertown precinct
Dreamworld has unveiled Rivertown, its highly anticipated new world featuring the brand-new Jungle Rush rollercoaster, Murrissippi Motors family ride and Jane’s Rivertown Restaurant.
Opened on Monday, this latest example of Dreamworld owner Coast Entertainment Holdings’ investment into the theme park features Jungle Rush as its centrepiece attraction - Dreamworld’s largest-ever investment in a single ride and the first roller coaster of its kind in the world.
This family-friendly thrill ride features the world’s first inclined turntable and intricate jungle theming while the adjacent Murrissippi Motors reimagines a cherished classic, taking guests on a scenic journey through Rivertown’s lush landscape, weaving around a former RAAF Caribou A4-179 aircraft.
The precinct also include Jane’s Rivertown Restaurant, featuring a lively jungle-themed setting complete with lifelike animatronic animals and a themed boat bar at its centre.
Describing Rivertown the pinnacle of the park’s evolution, Dreamworld Chief Executive, Greg Yong stated “Rivertown is a huge milestone for Dreamworld and the Gold Coast.
With seating for up to 280 guests, it offers a menu that blends traditional theme park favourites with local Gold Coast flavours, creating an experience that’s as exciting as it is delicious.
As the crowning jewel in our multi-million-dollar investment, it reaffirms our commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for families. Jungle Rush and Murrissippi Motors bring adventure and nostalgia to life, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with our guests.”

Dan Mickan, Director and Project Manager at Herron Coorey, reflected on the scale and achievement of Rivertown, noting “bringing Rivertown to life has been an incredible experience for our team. The complexity of the project – from the intricate engineering of Jungle Rush to the detailed theming throughout the precinct – is something we’re incredibly proud of. Rivertown is a game-changer for Dreamworld and for the Gold Coast, and we’re thrilled to see it open to the public.”
The project also benefited from global expertise, with Randy Garfield, Board of Directors at Coast Entertainment and former President of Walt Disney Travel Company and Executive Vice President for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, praising the achievement.
Garfield noted “what Dreamworld has achieved with Rivertown is extraordinary. With the quality of the theming, the attention to detail, the physical site and the ride itself, it’s different from anything Disney has but just as good. And I mean that. Nothing in this country comes close to what you’re about to see.”
The launch of Rivertown follows the successful openings of Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland and the Dreamworld Flyer, showcasing Dreamworld’s unwavering commitment to reimagining the park.
Beyond Rivertown, plans are already underway for the construction of King Claw, set to begin in early 2025. This upcoming addition promises even more thrills for visitors and solidifies Dreamworld’s place as the Gold Coast’s premier theme park destination.
The Dreamworld opening follows the pre-Christmas launch of the Wizard of Oz precinct at Warner Bros. Movie World.
