Dreamworld shares first look at Rivertown Precinct progress and Jungle Rush rollercoaster carriages

Dreamworld has provided an update on the progress of its Rivertown Precinct along with a first look at some of the new Jungle Rush rollercoaster carriages.

Rivertown is Dreamworld’s replacement for the old Wiggles World / ABC Kids World area. This new themed land will open late 2024 and will feature the $35 million, Jungle Rush rollercoaster, being built by Dutch ride specialist Vekoma - compared to Disney's much-praised Indiana Jones adventure, and will be Dreamworld’s most expensive ride ever.

The structural steel is now in place forming the outline of what will be the temple ruins.

Recent months have seen significant progress in the new areas’ development including installation of inground services and now structural elements taking centre stage. The latest developments include the completion of concrete pours for the temple structure, with approximately 60 tonnes of structural steel already installed, reaching a height of 25 metres. The next stage of construction will see a further 115 tonnes of steel installed in coming months.

A portion of the Dreamworld car park has been turned into a makeshift storage yard to accommodate for the influx of shipping containers which include 45 40-foot containers of rollercoaster track and 42 containers housing themed panels.

Dreamworld's Operations Director, Michelle Erasmus, says that the coming months will see significant progress in the area’s development and enthused "we're beyond excited to share the progress of Rivertown and provide a sneak peek of the impressive Jungle Rush rollercoaster. The dedication of our teams and partners has been remarkable, and we’re looking forward to seeing our vision come to life in the coming months.”

Dan Mickan from Herron Coorey, overseeing the construction, is confident with progress on the site. 

"The collaboration between Dreamworld and our construction team has been great. In the coming months, we’ll see the temple structure really take shape, along with the coaster itself. This is a complex and multifaceted build, but we’re committed to delivering a world-class result."
