DLF commits to Indian Premier League
DLF Ltd, the title-sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has committed to ongoing sponsorship of the competition. This follows rumours that DLF, Indiaâs largest real estate developer, would back-out of its deal amid the global economic recession.
DLF, signed a deal in 2008 for the five-year title sponsorship rights for the IPL, the second edition of which launches in April this year.
Reports suggest that that DLF is restructuring its business to boost efficiency and productivity and a group of Indian traders has been making money by bringing down the company's stock price.
DLF Group Executive Director Rajeev Talwar recentll explained that âour commitment towards the DLF Indian Premier League remains resolute and long term, given the immense synergies involved. We will continue to support the League that has ushered in a unique new era of cricket and entertainment for a global audience."
IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi added that âI am happy that DLF will continue to play an integral part in helping develop the league into a truly world â class platform for showcasing and developing cricketing talent globally. I look forward to the start of season two in April 2009.?
