NZRA names new Aquatics Project Manager

The New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) has announced that Alison Law, an active member of the aquatics industry since 1999, NZRA Board member and Regional Chair, has been appointed to its Aquatics Project Manager position.

In a statement the NZRA announced "the team at NZRA couldn't be more thrilled about Alison's appointment as she brings a huge amount of experience to the role, combined with a direct understanding of aquatics issues and a passion for the industry."

Law is equally pleased about joining the NZRA, stating "I'm really happy about having the opportunity to be involved with NZRA and the aquatics industry in my new role. After being on the 'outside looking in' I welcome the chance to be able to put what I've learnt over the years into practice and hopefully add value to NZRA members and aquatics."

For the past seven years Law has been Manager of H2O Xtream, and has simultaneously been Recreation Services Manager for Upper Hutt City Council for the past two years, working both in facilities and community recreation. During her tenure there, H2O Xtream was awarded 'Pool of the Year' at the 2007 NZRA Conference.

Law has also been the NZRA Wellington Regional Chair since 2008 and a member of the NZRA Board since 2010. Last year, she led the regional organising committee for the most successful ever NZRA Conference in Wellington.

In 2008 she was awarded the Paul Stuart Memorial Award for 'outstanding excellence and personal contribution to the wider facility management industry'. She has been instrumental in the on-going facilitation of the Wellington Regional Pool Managers committee. She was formerly a member of the Yardstick Pools Technical Committee and was a member of the 2007 JAWS organising committee.

Alison holds numerous qualifications including a Pool Water Treatment and Operations Certificate, National Pool Lifeguard Award, Skills Active Assessor for NPLA, Customer Service and Health and Safety, Learn to Swim instructor as well as diplomas in Community Recreation for both Aquatics and Facility Management.

Alison will take up her role in early September.
