Day spa opens within the Australian National Botanic Gardens
Visitors to the Australian National Botanic Gardens can now unwind with a relaxing massage or pampering session at the newly opened Jindii EcoSpa.
Nestled within the Gardens, Jindii embodies a cleaner, greener approach to spa and wellness offering a large menu of treatments using the finest in Australian, organic spa products. The environmentally themed spa also offers a suite of lifestyle classes, including yoga, to enhance the spa experience.
Owner Bianca Prichard operated day spas in the ACT for 11 years and is delighted with being able to offer a facility within a natural environment.
Prichard told the Canberra Times "it's important for us to stand up to our business principles, which is treading lightly on the earth," she said.
The day spa has made use of materials readily available on the site, such as furniture made using offcuts from trees that had fallen in the gardens, and recycled timber that invites the outdoors inside.
Prichard added "it's about finding unique, fun and tangible ways for visitors to connect with the Botanic Gardens.
"It's certainly unique but that's really what Canberra is yearning for. When we were doing our immediate research into the market, there's nothing like this currently in a botanic garden and a national park."
Speaking at Jindii's recent opening, Federal Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment Bob Baldwin stated "the Gardens offer visitors the chance to immerse themselves in nature and take some time out from the stresses of modern life and Jindii offers a natural extension of that.
“Jindii adds to the Botanic Gardens’ appeal as a wedding and events venue, and the rental return on these elegant premises will be reinvested in this great national attraction.”
To get to the spa, visitors walk along the Joseph Banks Walk, across the Rainforest Gully bridge and past the cafe lawn where they will see a large variety of Australia native plants.
