David Hansen announced as Chief Executive of new Belgravia Events venture
Belgravia Group founder and Chairman Geoff Lord has announced the appointment of event management and sports marketing expert David Hansen as Chief Executive of the new Belgravia Events venture.
A new division with the Belgravia Group’s extensive portfolio of industry businesses, Belgravia Events will look to run a series of events in sport, recreation and tourism. The business plans to partner with local government, national sporting organisations throughout Australia and international operators to develop and manage major events.
Hansen is best known as the founder and Managing Director of SuperSprint Events which, from 1986 to 2016 ran over 500 events including the BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series, ITU Triathlon World Cup Triathlons - Sydney & Geelong, UCI Women's Road Cycling World Cups - Geelong, Gatorade Triathlon Series, Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride, Sussan Women's Fun Run, Cadbury Worlds Largest Easter Egg Hunt, NEON Run, inaugural Run 4 Kids Fun Run, Challenge Melbourne, Diet Coke Mile , Singapore Triathlon, Fiji Triathlon and the Sydney Tower Run Up.
Acknowledged as one of the world’s leading event management companies, Hansen (pictured) sold the business to Sport Media & Entertainment 360 in 2016.
He was also the Event Director for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Triathlon for the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.
The event, the first ever Olympic Triathlon and the first event of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, attracted a global television audience of 2.2 billion viewers, 450,000 spectators over the mens and womens events and involved over 2,500 staff.
