Geoff Lord backs new Belgravia Sports venture

Respected leisure industry investor Geoff Lord has joined with author and entrepreneur Brandt Kelly to launch Belgravia Sports, a new joint venture that aims to become a leader in providing sport and recreation activities for Australian youth.

Belgravia Sports will operate a range of activities and programs including:

• DanceOz for kids John Horner
• Big5 sports
• Kids in Australia
• Pre School Australia.

In addition, Belgravia Sports have acquired Australian Sports Camps, who over 30 years, have administered sports camps across Australia for school-aged children in sports including AFL, football, netball, cricket, hockey, basketball, rugby and tennis.

During the last year, Australian Sports Camps has delivered 115 camps, clinics and academy programs for over 5,000 participating children. Australian Sports Camps programs employ the highest standard of junior coaching and give children opportunity to meet their sporting idols who attend the programs to pass on their experience and provide inspiration.

Over the current summer holidays Australian Sports Camps has delivered 36 camp programs in cricket, netball, tennis, hockey, basketball and football.

Among these programs, the Justin Langer Cricket camp took place in early January for over 300 enthusiastic participants utilising the fantastic facilities of Hale School at Wembley Downs in Western Australia.

Children came from across Western Australia, some travelling long distances to enjoy the program including two regular participants who once again made the 2,950 kilometre journey from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the Indian Ocean.

Participants enjoyed three days of fantastic cricket coaching from Justin as well as players such as Terry Alderman, Michael Beer, Tom Triffitt, Rodney Hogg, Tom Hogan, Wayne Clark working on all parts of their game.

During this year Australian Sports Camps has had a number of superstars spend time coaching at their programs. Just a few of the players/coaches to have attended are Kevin Sheedy, Scott Pendlebury, Dustin Fletcher, Simon Black, Daniel Hannebery, Rory Sloane and Nat Fyfe in Australian Rules Football, Bianca Chatfield, Caitlin Bassett, Shelley O'Donnell, Mo'onia Gerrard and Natalie Medhurst in Netball, Dean Jones, Doug Walters, Brad Hodge, Kim Hughes, Greg Blewett, Stuart Clark, Chris Hartley and Ben Cutting in cricket and Kate Hollywood and Andrew Smith in hockey.

Australian Sports Camps is looking forward to continuing to bring the stars of the game to the next generation of Australian sports stars. Michael Slater, Ed Cowan, Mark Phillipoussis, James Hird and Harry Taylor are a few past Australian Sports Camps attendees who have gone on to well and truly make it at the highest level of their respective sports. Australian Sports Camps is dedicated to delivering high quality programs and looks forward to seeing more of its participants shine as stars in the future.

Brandt Kelly, who created the successful Kelly Sports franchising program and drew on his years of experience running sports clinics to write the book 'Mums and Dads Get Active With Your Kids: 40 Great Games' in 2010, is Managing Director of new venture.
