Cruise ship fitness facilities fit for a Princess
Princess Cruises has unveiled state-of-the-art fitness facilities that will feature aboard their 3,600-passenger Royal Princess launching in June 2013.
Stretching from decks 17 to 19 aft, the fitness and sports facilities will be located in the one vicinity on the ship and will include a jogging track, fitness centre, private aerobics studio and the two-deck Princess Sports Central.
Princess Cruises executive Vice President Jan Swartz explained "many of our passengers are very active on vacation.
"These new facilities will offer them state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge classes to keep up or even step up their fitness routines at sea."
Fitness and sport facilities on the Royal Princess, Princess Cruises' new flagship, will include:
Jogging Track
Located on deck 18, the double lane jogging track offers separate lanes for walkers and runners and runs alongside the outdoor exercise stations that form a circuit program.
A variety of art depicting landmarks from around the world will be positioned around the track to give passengers the feeling of 'running around the world'.
Princess Sports Central
The two-deck multi sport area is located on decks 18 and 19 and will offer a variety of activities including basketball, tennis and volleyball in Centre Court and baseball in the portable batting cage.
A golf driving range will also be featured along with bocce ball, croquet and lawn bowls on the Lawn Court.
Less traditional games including a simulated laser shooting range will complement the Game Lounge which will offer table tennis and virtual gaming with Kinect systems.
Fitness Centre and Aerobics Studio
Located on deck 17, the fitness centre will offer ocean views and state-of-the-art exercise equipment including treadmills, recumbent bicycles, elliptical machines and strength equipment.
Personal television screens will feature on many pieces of equipment with some including interactive experiences to engage passengers when exercising.
In a first for Princess Cruises, a private aerobics studio located at the back of the gym will feature a host of classes including TRX® suspension training, MyRide cycle classes offering the opportunity to ride through landscapes from around the world, Body Sculpt Boot Camp and Chi Ball Yoga which uses aromatherapy-scented balls.
Centre Court
A multi functional sports court facility featuring basketball, volleyball, bocce, golf activities, and futsal.
