Club Pilates Australia signs milestone franchise agreement with United States-based Riser Fitness
Club Pilates Australia, the Australian operator of the world's largest Pilates brand, has secured a franchise agreement with United States - based Club Pilates franchise group, Riser Fitness. Riser Fitness, led by President and COO Mike Gray, operates more than 90 studios worldwide.
The agreement will see the opening of 40 Club Pilates studios across Australia over the next four years. Spanning across all major capital cities, the deal is one of the most significant fitness franchise deals in Australian history, positioning Club Pilates for rapid expansion in the booming Pilates industry.
With 1200+ global locations, Club Pilates is poised to become the largest Pilates brand in Australia.
Dating back to 2013, the founding team at Riser Fitness has a deep history with Club Pilates as one of its earliest franchisees in the United States. Since joining the Club Pilates Corporate Team in California in 2017 as Vice President of Sales then later the brand’s President, Gray has also played a pivotal role in accelerating the brand's global growth. His success led him to join the largest operator of Club Pilates locations globally, focused exclusively on expanding the footprint of Riser Fitness’ Club Pilates locations and driving performance across the group.
How Boutique Fitness Studios Brought Club Pilates to Life In Australia
The journey to bring Club Pilates to Australia began with Matt Gordin, founder and Chief Executive of Boutique Fitness Studios. Living in the United States from 2015-2020, Gordin discovered the brand and instantly recognised its potential in the Australian market. He went on to secure a Master Franchise agreement with Xponential Fitness, granting him exclusive rights to roll out several leading fitness brands, including Club Pilates, star-studded Rumble Boxing, CycleBar and StretchLab across the region.
Since launching in 2020, Boutique Fitness Studios has opened 22 Club Pilates locations and sold 27 more across Australia and New Zealand.
Gordin enthused “through this milestone agreement, we are thrilled to roll out an additional 40 Club Pilates studios over the next four years. This allows us to make the brand even more accessible across Australia and New Zealand. We believe in this brand wholeheartedly and are excited to bring it to even more communities.
“When I discovered these brands in the US., I knew they would offer something truly unique for the Australian fitness landscape, and I am pleased that they have been well received."
In a further vote of confidence in the growth of boutique fitness, Viva Leisure, one of Australia’s largest fitness and leisure operators, made a strategic investment in Boutique Fitness Studios in September 2024.
