Claremont Showgrounds refurbishment for Perth Royal Show

The 1929 Centenary Pavilion at the Claremont Showgrounds is undergoing a $1.5 million refurbishment in time for this year's Perth Royal Show.

Royal Agricultural Society Chief Executive Martin Molony recently explained that the upgrade included stripping the asbestos roofing and replacing it with tin sheeting.

The facade, which was riddled with concrete cancer, is being rebuilt and the pavilion flooring and pillars upgraded.

Molony said the works should be finished in August.

The 2011 Royal Show opens on 1st October.
