City of Swan secures numerous awards for public works process

The City of Swan has secured numerous accolades at the recently held Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) WA awards.

IPWEA is the country’s prominent industry body for public works, hosting an annual awards gala to celebrate significant achievements.

The City won the award for Excellence in Asset Management in relation to their Capital Works Process.

They also received a high commendation for the Koongamia Pavilion under the category of Best Project Under $2 Million (Metro).

Additionally, a talented staff member, Amanda Widjaja, was a finalist for the Young Emerging Leader in Western Australia.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said he is very proud of the City’s achievements and noted “The City’s asset portfolio has a replacement value of $2.9 billion, with an annual capital works program worth over $100 million.

“Winning the award for excellence in asset management recognises the exceptional work by City of Swan staff in balancing the need to renew existing assets and deliver new infrastructure for a rapidly growing population.

“The City’s capital works process has contributed to the development of upcoming major projects, including Ellenbrook Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Swan Active Midland redevelopment, the new Stock Road and New Junction.

“On behalf of Council, I heartily congratulate our City staff for their excellent work.”

The recreation and aquatic centre being built in Ellenbrook is a multimillion-dollar project that will see local residents and those in surrounding areas have access to a state-of-the-art indoor recreation and aquatic facility.
