Chinese Government relaxes sport event restrictions
The Chinese Government is changing its laws in order to ease the requirements for the organisation of sporting sports events.
Earlier this week President Xi Jinping signed a Presidential Decree promulgating changes to 12 laws and deleting Article 32 of the Sports Law of the People’s Republic of China.
This law had stated “the State shall adopt the approval system of sports competitions’ national records ... and national records of sports events shall be confirmed by the sports administrative department under the State Council.”
In the future, the national records of sports competitions will no longer require administrative examination, but will be administrated under industry regulations stipulated by local sports associations.
The General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) will henceforth carry out business guidance and industry supervision rather than direct examination and approval.
