Adelaide Casino to be transformed in $330 million expansion

Having reached an agreement with the South Australian Government, the Adelaide Casino is to undergo a $330 million expansion to transform it into an integrated entertainment destination.

The redevelopment will see the SKYCITY Entertainment Group proceed with  plans to expand Adelaide Casino on the Festival Plaza forecourt, adding a luxury hotel, new VIP gaming facilities, three new bars, three additional signature restaurants and event spaces for up to 750 people.

The proposed development has been expanded from initial plans with an increase in hotel rooms from 89 to 123, adding an extra floor to the hotel to meet increased demand.

Commenting on the development, SKYCITY Chief Executive Graeme Stephens stated "we believe there is demand for more quality hotel rooms in Adelaide from both domestic and international visitors.

“This provides a better-balanced product while also helping South Australia realise its full potential as a premium tourist destination.”

SKYCITY will also remodel the existing historic building to match the new development, while protecting its character.

Adelaide Casino General Manager Luke Walker said he is delighted Adelaide Casino will be part of the redevelopment of the Festival Plaza.

Walker added "we’ve taken a fresh look at both our existing building and the design for the expansion.

“We’ve redesigned interiors, revitalised social, entertainment, and gaming spaces, and relocated restaurants and bars.”

Construction will begin in early 2018, with completion expected by the third quarter of 2020.
