Orange Community Carols to trial new venue at the Botanic Gardens
Orange City Council has advised that their Community Christmas Carols event will be held at a new location this year - the open spaces of the Orange Botanic Garden.
The event will be held on Saturday 14th December from 6.30pm to 9pm. The regular Northcourt site for the annual carols event is currently the construction site for the new Conservatorium of Music.
Orange Mayor Tony Mileto is pleased the event can be trialled at a new location this year and added “the North Orange neighbourhood is home to thousands of Orange residents, so this is going to be a great opportunity to see how the Carols event can work at a new location that will be very convenient for them.
“The gardens are a place of beauty for many locals who walk there every day. It’s going to be a great backdrop to meet up with family and friends and enjoy the music of the season.”
Musicians from the Orange Conservatorium of Music will be on-hand to accompany performers on the night. Food stalls and jumping castle attractions will start from 5.30pm.
The Carols event is one of the highlights of a weekend of Christmas celebrations planned for the 13th-15th December.
Orange businesses in Summer Street are staging a ‘Sip & Shop on Summer ‘ event on Friday 13th December from 5pm-9pm. The twilight shopping experience will include music, drinks and family fun. The event will focus on the area of Summer Street from Anson Street west to the Village on Summer shopping centre.
The opportunity to shop continues on Sunday 15th December at the annual Rotary Christmas Markets at the Showground.
The traditional community market happens at the Naylor Pavillion at the Orange Showground on the Sunday morning.
