Capricorn Coast Netball Association facilities secures $4.5 million for upgrades
The Queensland Government is funding $4.5 million in the 2025-26 Budget for a major upgrade of the Barmaryee Sports Complex at Yeppoon with the upgrade to the Capricorn Coast Netball Association facilities delivering eight additional outdoor hardcourts and full lighting to enable the association to run state-level competitions and expand weekly fixtures.
The commitment fulfills on a key election commitment and is one of 117 clubs to be funded under the first round of the Games On! program, delivering new and upgraded fields and courts, clubhouses, changerooms and lighting for community sporting clubs across Queensland.
Games On! ensures all of Queensland benefits from the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and follows the announcement of the new $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers, which will also deliver cost of living relief for families and allow more Queensland kids to be involved in junior sport.
Local State Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton said the upgrade doubled the Capricorn Coast Netball Association’s hard-court capacity and would help take it to the next level adding “the works to replace eight grass courts with hardcourts and install superior lighting, will hugely benefit junior and senior players right across the region.
“This association has grown from 400 participants in 2016, when they first moved to Barmaryee, to more than 1200 now, and this upgrade will ensure it goes from strength to strength.”
