Caloundra Indoor Stadium reopens after full roof replacement

Sunshine Coast Council has announced that its Caloundra Indoor Stadium has reopened after a full roof replacement.

Advising of the completion of work at the region’s only four-court multi-purpose air-conditioned indoor arena, Sunshine Coast Councillor Terry Landsberg said the facility was now even better equipped for local sporting teams and competitions, major sporting events, exhibitions and trade shows, stating “Caloundra Indoor Stadium is a mecca for indoor sports and events in our region.

“With the works completed, it will provide an enhanced experience for the tens of thousands of competitors, spectators and visitors who will use the facility now and into the future.

“As part of the roof replacement, 150kW of solar panels will also be installed on the roof, which is a major win for council’s ongoing sustainability objectives.”

About $1.3 million was in the 2022/23 budget to repair the roof structure and sheeting at the stadium, funded by the Queensland Government in association with the Council.

Activities at the popular facility include pickleball ($15.75 per court per hour, BYO paddle), badminton ($19.50 per court per hour, BYO racket), casual basketball ($5.25 per person per hour, BYO ball); casual netball ($5.25 per person per hour, BYO ball).

There is also badminton on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to noon ($8.50 per player, BYO racket) and walking netball on Wednesdays from 10am to 11am ($5.25 per player).

The Stadium will host the Regional Disability Expo on 19th October, the Just Acrobatics Expo on 11th November and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Sunshine Coast Championships on 3rd December.
