Business education streams announced for active-net Australasia

The upcoming active-net Australasia business-focused networking event has added a business/education stream to its program.

Similar to the UK event, active-net Australasia, managed by leading insight specialist Leisure-net Solutions, will comprise of 16 one-to-one business meetings between suppliers and operators, as well as a networking lunch and dinner and an educational thread with keynote speaker Paralympian John Domandl and workshops, including an industry leaders’ question and answer panel.

A session entitled ‘Thinking outside the box’ will be lead by well known and influential industry figure both in Australasia and the UK, Tim Webster, who has more than 30 years experience in sector. He will help delegates explore what the future of fitness, sport and aquatics look like and whether we can really increase physical activity levels just by getting more people into facilities.

Australian Fitness Network has now added its support to active-net Australasia and the organisation’s Executive Director Nigel Champion will be joining the panel of experts for the session ‘Thinking outside the box’ during the morning of day one.

Network, which Champion co-founded, provides resources, education and conventions to its 12,000 members, who are made up of gym owners, personal trainers and group exercise instructors.

Champion has served on the Boards of the Australian Institute of Fitness, Fitness Australia, Australian Coaching Council, Australian Council for Health Physical Education and Recreation and Squash Australia, and currently serves on the Board of Les Mills international.

Commenting on the support of active-net Australasia, Australian Fitness Network’s Chief Executive, Ryan Hogan stated “Network is pleased to support and be part of active-net Australasia, as a great initiative to connect fitness industry suppliers and owner operators.”

Another session will see Justin Tamsett, Managing Director of Active Management, lead on ‘Health – opportunity or challenge?’ during which delegates will discuss how health and wellness represents a challenge or an opportunity for a sector focused on fitness, physical activity and sport.

A suppliers workshop ‘Understand the Sector’ will explain the key drivers of, and differences between, the various sub sectors of the active leisure market.

Leisure-net run the only business to business networking event for the active-leisure sector in Australia. active-net 2016 will bring together 100 leading operators and suppliers for business-focused networking and one-to-one face-to-face pre-arranged meetings.

The event is being held at Novotel St. Kilda in Melbourne on 27th and 28th July 2016.
