Active-net Australasia 2016 gathers industry momentum

The inaugural Active-net Australasia event has been gaining support and pledges of attendance from across the aquatic, fitness and recreation industry in Australia and New Zealand.

The unique business to business networking event, to be held at the Novotel Hotel, St. Kilda, Melbourne on 27th and 28th July this year, originally conceived with event partner Fitness Australia, quickly drew support from other leading industry organisations including UNISport, ALFA and the Exercise Association of New Zealand.

Now the Australian Fitness Network and two key state associations - Aquatics and Recreation Association of Victoria (ARV) and the Aquatics and Recreation Institute (ARI) - have committed to support the two-day event.

Australian Fitness Network -  the leading source of information, education and events in fitness - strives to provide innovative, inspiring and valuable membership benefits to help its members you remain motivated, focused and challenged in your fitness career.

Commenting on Network’s involvement, Chief Executive Ryan Hogan stated “Network is pleased to support and be part of active-net Australasia as a great initiative to connect fitness industry suppliers and owner operators.”

Network Executive Director Nigel Champion will also be taking part in an industry panel discussion that will happen in the morning of day one of the event.

Peak industry body ARV drives industry progress through research, networking, industry awards, conferences and seminars, professional development, policy and strategic partnerships.

Chief Executive Anthony McIntosh explains “Aquatics and Recreation Victoria is delighted to support the inaugural active-net event here in Victoria.

“It will be an excellent opportunity for businesses to enhance their professional networks, write new business and keep abreast of new trends in our industry.

“I think we can expect to see many of our entrepreneurial early adopters giving active-net a go.”

NSW-based ARI, a not-for-profit professional association of aquatic and recreation practitioners, provides support, training, information and networking opportunities for members.

President Colin Kane explains “the Aquatic and Recreation Institute sees this event as a unique opportunity for both suppliers and industry professionals to network and build strong working relationships.”

Mike Hill, Director of Leisure-net Solutions and active-net event Director added “we are thrilled so many of the leading organisations in Australia and New Zealand pledged their support and come on board.

“It just shows Australasia has been waiting for an event like this to be launched and we are looking forward to bringing the sector together for a great two days of business networking and meetings.”

Similar to the UK event, active-net Australasia will comprise of 16 one-to-one business meetings between suppliers and operators, as well as a networking lunch and dinner and an educational thread with a keynote speaker and workshops, including an industry leaders’ question and answer panel.

Places are available for 50 suppliers and 50 operators and active-net Australasia will be free for senior managers/directors to attend, thanks to the generous support of leading suppliers in the sector.
