Inaugural Chief Executive appointed to lead Visit Victoria
Visit Victoria, Victoria’s new tourism and events agency is to be led by inaugural Chief Executive Peter Bingeman.
Bingeman, who was raised in metropolitan and regional Victoria and graduated from the University of Melbourne, has more than 20 years’ experience in change management, marketing and leadership roles across Australia and Asia.
He is returning to Victoria from Malaysia where he was confectionery, food and beverage conglomerate, Mondelez International’s Managing Director responsible for business in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indo China.
He held previous executive roles with Mondelez International, Cadbury Schweppes & Procter and Gamble.
Announcing the appointment, Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren stated that Bingeman would oversee the transition of Victoria’s biggest shake up of the visitor economy in two decades, commenting “Visit Victoria will play a critical role in shaping the growth of Victoria’s visitor economy, and Mr Bingeman is the right person to be leading the organisation on this exciting journey.”
“The appointment of Mr Bingeman from an exceptionally strong field of applicants positions our visitor economy well for an important period of innovation and growth.”
Visit Victoria Chair Sir Rod Eddington added “as one of the marketing industry’s leading talents, Mr Bingeman in the role of inaugural CEO, has the international marketing and retail expertise to lead the new organisation and grow the state’s visitor economy.”
Looking forward to his new role, Bingeman concluded “the creation of Visit Victoria signals a new era for this critical industry in Victoria.
“As a passionate Victorian I am excited to start this role and look forward to working with industry and government to advance Victoria’s visitor economy.”
Bingeman (pictured above) will commence at Visit Victoria on 4th July 2016.
