Global search for new Visit Victoria Chief Executive
Victoria is embarking on a worldwide recruitment process to find Visit Victoria’s inaugural Chief Executive.
Announcing the start of recruitment for the head of the new agency, Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren said the Victorian Government would “scour the globe” to find the best candidate to lead Victoria’s new approach to tourism and major events.
Visit Victoria was created following a "once-in-a-generation" shake up of Victoria’s $21 billion tourism and major events sector creating a new agency bringing tourism and major events under one roof. Combining Tourism Victoria and the Victorian Major Events Company, and with the addition of a new conventions division, Visit Victoria has been described as "a single, unified voice, working together to sell (Victoria's) great strengths."
Minister Eren stated “we said Visit Victoria would be a world-leading entity with the brightest minds, and that’s what we’re delivering.”
In August, immediately after the Victorian Government announced its new tourism and major events agency, Leigh Harry announced his resignation from the post of Chief Executive at Tourism Victoria.
Executive search firm Heidrick and Struggles has been appointed to steer the search.
